Common Roots

Common Roots is a community land trust dedicated to developing and stewarding permanently affordable homes that build wealth, security, and community for low and moderate-income neighbors in Crawford County.

Common Roots’ Self-Help Housing Program is designed to make homeownership attainable and sustainable while revitalizing our community’s deteriorating housing stock. Program participants will work together with Common Roots’ team to either build a new home of their own or purchase and repair an existing property in Crawford County, PA.

Common Roots was founded by tradespeople who hoped to teach community members how to build and maintain homes. As a participant, you’ll work with our Self-Help team and skilled volunteers on your home while learning valuable skills and building community. You’ll also be building wealth through sweat equity!

Common Roots will be with you every step of the way. No construction experience is required. What is required is hard work, cooperation, and commitment. Be in touch to learn more about Common Roots and Self-Help Housing.
